Rescue Me ID: 17-09-28-00545BOOMER (male)

Black and Tan Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Boomer is smart, gentle and loving. He's very attentive and looks for instruction/approval. Boomer knows a few commands, sit; shake hands; lay down. He enjoys all new adventures and is very well behaved; from Tractor Supply to the Vet, he's always on his best behavior. Boomer loves to go walking, hiking and shopping and is a perfect gentleman on leash. He's well-adjusted; comfortable and calm in any situation. Boomer is a social butterfly; he doesn't meet a stranger and treats everyone like his new best friend. He's great with children, dogs and cats. Boomer is housebroken and has a medium energy level. He's happy to go walking/hiking or run ... (Read More)errands but he's equally happy to snuggle on the couch and nap the day away. He just wants to be where you are. He fancies himself a 75 lb. lap dog; he wants to feel your love and will just flop his head down on your chest for hugs. When you're around Boomer, he expects to be with you and go where you go; he's truly a companion and wants to be involved with his family. Boomer does not like to be crated; it causes him quite a bit of anxiety. He can be left alone without issue, even if he's isolated to one room. As long as he's not crated, his anxiety is not a problem. He's not a chewer nor is he destructive with toys, furniture, shoes, etc. Boomer is really a go-with-the-flow guy; he's happiest when he's with his humans and will do well in a home with or without other pets. Boomer was dealt a 'ruff' hand; losing his home, furry siblings and human family. It's time for Boomer to feel the love of a family again. He's going to be a blessing to his new family. BOOMER / Male / 75 lbs. / 2.5 yrs. old / Neutered / HW Negative / Chipped / Vaccinations UTD thru 09/18 Boomer's adoption fee is $175. Complete an Application at freedomringsrescue.org/adopt (Less)

If you love hounds, you'll love CHESTER. This 1-year-old black and tan coonhound mix loves to run and sniff around the exercise areas here at Save the Strays. But, like most hounds, he's quite happy lounging indoors, as well. Also like most hounds, he's food-driven. Show him a treat and he'll try his best to do what you want, once he understands what that is. He learned to sit in 5 minutes using treats. That's also how we trained him to kennel up in his crate when he comes inside. He's pretty smart, so if you get a bag of treats and devote an afternoon, you can probably teach him most of the basic commands. Chester is large (58 lbs.) and ... (Read More)fairly active, so he needs room to run. A fenced yard would be best, but he can be walked on leash (needs a little work). Because of his size and enthusiasm, we think he would be best with adults only or a family with older, bigger children so he doesn't knock them down when he greets them. As for other dogs, he seems to prefer females, although a male that doesn't act aggressive or challenge him may be okay. Apply for Chester online at www.savethestrays.org or email info@savethestrays.org for our application. Adoption fee $225. (Less)

Hi there! My name is Daphne B&T Coon. I am grateful to ZenRescue for helping me, and I am attached to my friends here, but I just want to be in the home with my forever human or family. My time is running out here and I don't want to end up in a kill shelter. I need someone retired or home all the time because of my fear of thunder if left alone. I am perfect in everyway, but need to have my human near me when there is thunder. Zen can't always be at my side with so many other dogs to tend to, she wishes she could though. She loves me and the hopes I get a great home soon...it is 9/21/17 now and time is running out. I make a great best ... (Read More)friend! I will listen and keep all of your deepest secrets, I will be at your side when you feel low. I enjoy daily walks, and car rides- I'm an excellent rider! I walk gently on a lead and keep a good steady pace for exercise walking, but will be a running partner too if you would like. I enjoy both very much! Let's get some fresh air and exercise together! I am very social and friendly, I enjoy all types of outings and road trips. I like other dogs alright, I need time to get to know another dog before I warm up. I don't care much about playing with other dogs.. I would rather do things with my human companions. I get very frightened during thunderstorms, or fireworks and gun shot, loud sounds like that make me get stressed and I just want to hide in a closet or under a table or something like that, cuddling next to you would suit me just fine and will make me feel safe & secure. Can you comfort me when life gets scary? I am a well trained, obedient and respectful girl. I like to know you are happy with me and I am very cuddly, affectionate, and sensitive... You might also call me intuitive. I am seeking a life in the home, not a yard dog... I can jump a 6ft fence, and will jump in a heartbeat if I get frightened and will then try to find my human,so being left out in a fenced yard would not be a good fit for me. I crave your company, I don't want to be away from my humans. I hope to meet my lifelong companion soon! Could it be you? I am about 2 yrs old now... I still have many healthy, vigorous years ahead of me... I am a hunter by nature and will want to chase small game and cats, but I don't really want to be a hunting dog, I desire a pampered home life with walks and trips! I would be a great condo dog, since a fenced yard is not really a good fit for me. Dog parks are filled with too many strangers and I am more of a cautious girl, so not really a dog park fan. We can play ball or frisbee, I like to leap and chase. Let's enjoy good times together! Set up a meet and greet with Zen. I look forward to meeting you soon! XO, Daphne (Less)
