Rescue Me ID: 18-04-19-00297Chico (male)

Black and Tan Coonhound Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Chico has been a great dog for us for the past 8 years. Chico is a 70 lb black and tan hound mix that we rescued from the APL in 2010. He is submissive, a little fearful, fairly low energy (he loves to sleep in) but does have high energy at times. He is great on a leash and looking for a family with no young children. He would do well with older children or just adults. Chico gets along with most dogs and cats that he meets. We can no longer keep him because we have two toddlers now and Chico is food guarding when they get into or near his food when he is eating. He has only snarled at the kids and scared them. We feel overwhelmed with our ... (Read More)small kids and taking care of Chico too. If you are looking for a big cuddly lug, Chico is your man! (Less)

Animal ID: Josie 01Josie (female)

Black and Tan Coonhound    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Meet Josie, a sweet girl with a slight touch of high strung worry. Josie is up for adoption. Josie would do best with an active (long walks and outdoorsy) family with older or no children. She doesn't understand the ways of little kids and they tend to feed her evident anxiety. She is a coon hound and has a high prey drive so cats and other small animals aren't a good fit. Josie may get along with a pack as long as she is separated during eating and has a place away from everyone to sleep. She shows slight aggression around food and doesn't handle being startled from sleep well. Josie is fifty pounds, and up to date on vetting, loves walks ...
