Cagney is about 2 years old weights about 55 lbs, she has had her 3n1 shot and been spayed and wormed, she gets along with other dogs and is VERY submissive to them, she is very affectionate with all people, she does jump she has not been around cats, and is housebroken. She needs room to run and someone to spend time with her. Cagney and her friend Lacey showed up at a neighbors house and were enjoying their freedom until a neighbor called the dog warden on them. They now have to be tethered and are in urgent need of a warm home for winter...even though they mostly stayed close to their temp home. If you think that you could provide a warm home for winter, Please contact Mary at 614-859-7543 or email Mary at email@example.com for more information and pictures. She is located in the McArthur Area 45651 if you would like to mapquest her. (Less)

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Lottie is a very sweet girl. She walks well, gets along with the staff and volunteers. She came to our Shelter as a stray in May. She was adopted in June and brought back in July because the other dog didn't like her even though they got along here during their visitation. She just got adopted again October 1, with another dog(Lab Mix) from our Shelter. They got along here at our shelter but when they got home, the two dogs didn't get along because a rawhide chew was given them. Probably Lottie has to go to a home with no other dogs. She has been tested for Heartworm which was negative and she has been treated for round and whip. She is getting very stressed here, and is losing weight even though she is fed 3 times a day and walked twice a day. She needs to get out of the Shelter environment as soon as possible for her mental and physical well being. Hope someone can help her. (Less)

Meet Louise! Louise is 4 years old and about 50 pounds. She has a high prey drive and is not recommended for cats. She gets along with other dogs and is debarked but still makes plenty of sound. She loves to be outside. She needs to be fed separately from other dogs but is fine with people around her food. She is friendly with all people.

Clem is about 2 years old and came to us as a tiny, very shy pup that was dumped along the road. She was hungry and bald, but sweet as peaches. She is a wonderful girl that likes everybody, yet not a dog that goes bounding up to strangers. Typical of a hound, she wants to circle a new come-er and approach from behind and give a quick sniff. Once she meets a person, she always approaches confidently the second time. She is polite in the house, knows basic commands and wants to please, so is easily corrected(with just a whisper) and figures out quickly what it is you are asking of her. I do think that she has some spaniel, even though she does not look it, because she is not a 'nose to the ground' girl, and is very often interested in birds..in fact her job here is to keep some visiting vultures away from her raw bones...and everybody elses. too. She stays close to home, comes when she is called, but on occasion likes to chase a deer or rabbit. I think she loves the wide open spaces, so a country home would be ideal. She rides perfectly in the car, although she doesn't get much of a chance here, because by the time she decides that she would like to go, the car is already filled with a pack of smaller dog co-pilots. She is on an easy to feed raw/cooked meat diet, just because unlike some of the dogs, she will eat everything put before her. Clem is still a bit shy with strangers and would be insecure if left alone for long periods of time, so a stay at home or work-from-home family would be her preference. I AM sure she will get more confidence with a family that would show her lots of new experiences and has a confident attitude themselves. And She already has her own theme song...Oh my darlin' Oh my Darlin' Oh my Darlin' Clementine~ for more information or to meet Clem, please email us firstname.lastname@example.org or Please feel free to call 740-596-8235 (stephanie) we are located in the McArthur area 45651, if you would like to mapquest us. And thanks soooooo much for your consideration of a Rescue dog. (Less)

Howdy! My name is Herman. I'm 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 70 lbs. I've been here at the pound for about 2 months now. Here's my story: I was found as a stray in to Rogers area after apparently being dumped by my owners, whom of which, by the way, never really bothered to teach me a whole lot of anything before dumping me. As a result, I'm kind of a total hooligan. I am high energy, stubborn and LOUD, but underneath it all, I am a misunderstood, very sweet and loving dog. I am hoping my message reaches out to someone that can help save me before it's too late. As a total bonus, I seem to be totally house trained as I have had very, very few accidents since I have been here. When I first arrived I was okay with most of the other dogs. I did have some that I didn't really care for, but now that I have been here for a while, I don't really like any of the other dogs. I've become quite aggressive with the other dogs over the past month or so. I can't even be around them at all because I will try to attack them. I was NOT like this when I came in, but being at the pound has made me a little crazy. I had a little incident and now my time is running very short. Over a weekend, I was being walked and, well, with me being the untrained boy that I am, I somehow pulled too hard and broke my leash. Before my handler could even grab me, I darted over to another dog and immediately began attacking her. She isn't a mean dog, but I was going to take my built up frustration out on her. During the scuffle, someone was bit by either me or by the other dog (it is unknown which one of us). Typically, dogs who attack other dogs here the way I do, don't even get a second chance, but since I have to stay here for the bite quarantine, I get to have one last chance at finding a rescue or home. I only until November 4, 2014 to find a home or suitable rescue to take me in so please network me to anyone you know that might be able to help. The pound is really hoping to not have to put me down, as they really hate to have to euthanize any of us. They just have no way to safely house me, keep me sane, and give me the attention and exercise I need with me being dog aggressive. Please help me find a loving family who will work with me and help me become the best dog I can possibly be! I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER SEPTEMBER 12, 2014. HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS. MY ADOPTION FEE IS $110 CASH, WHICH COVERS MY NEUTER SURGERY (WHICH MUST BE DONE PRIOR TO ME LEAVING THE SHELTER), MY PARVO/DISTEMPER VACCINE, RABIES VACCINE, DEWORMING AND MY CURRENT OHIO DOG LICENSE WHICH WILL BE HONORED THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF OHIO. THE POUND IS OPEN MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 8 AM- 4 PM AND SATURDAY FROM 9 AM- 12 PM. WE ARE CLOSED SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS. (Less)

Brother and sister hounds, about 40 lbs each. We adopted them 6 years ago when they were pups, but now they need a new home due to bad chemistry with our senior dog and other rescues. They love being together but don't mind being apart or with other dogs. They are SO easy to walk--no pulling! They will run on leash beside a bicycle. Jenny is shy and cuddly, and Frank is gregarious. We love them, and they deserve a better life than being protected behind baby gates and doors.
