Black and Tan Coonhound    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SARAH was discovered on the State Route 47 in Port Jefferson, OH. Sarah was in a pretty awful medical condition when she first got to the shelter. We took to her veterinarian and she did indeed need some medical help. Both of her ears were infected, her nails were badly overgrown, and her teeth had some issues too. The veterinarian was able to clean out her ears and gave her some medications to help with the pain so that her body can heal. She hasn't let her condition get her down though and is a very happy girl. She is looking for her forever home. SHELTER HOURS: M-F 9-5, SAT 9-1!

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only.  Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Lottie is a very sweet girl. She walks well, gets along with the staff and volunteers. She came to our Shelter as a stray in May. She was adopted in June and brought back in July because the other dog didn't like her even though they got along here during their visitation. She just got adopted again October 1, with another dog(Lab Mix) from our Shelter. They got along here at our shelter but when they got home, the two dogs didn't get along because a rawhide chew was given them. Probably Lottie has to go to a home with no other dogs. She has been tested for Heartworm which was negative and she has been treated for round and whip. She is ... (Read More)getting very stressed here, and is losing weight even though she is fed 3 times a day and walked twice a day. She needs to get out of the Shelter environment as soon as possible for her mental and physical well being. Hope someone can help her. (Less)

Meet Louise! Louise is 4 years old and about 50 pounds. She has a high prey drive and is not recommended for cats. She gets along with other dogs and is debarked but still makes plenty of sound. She loves to be outside. She needs to be fed separately from other dogs but is fine with people around her food. She is friendly with all people.

Clem is about 2 years old and came to us as a tiny, very shy pup that was dumped along the road. She was hungry and bald, but sweet as peaches. She is a wonderful girl that likes everybody, yet not a dog that goes bounding up to strangers. Typical of a hound, she wants to circle a new come-er and approach from behind and give a quick sniff. Once she meets a person, she always approaches confidently the second time. She is polite in the house, knows basic commands and wants to please, so is easily corrected(with just a whisper) and figures out quickly what it is you are asking of her. I do think that she has some spaniel, even though she ... (Read More)does not look it, because she is not a 'nose to the ground' girl, and is very often interested in fact her job here is to keep some visiting vultures away from her raw bones...and everybody elses. too. She stays close to home, comes when she is called, but on occasion likes to chase a deer or rabbit. I think she loves the wide open spaces, so a country home would be ideal. She rides perfectly in the car, although she doesn't get much of a chance here, because by the time she decides that she would like to go, the car is already filled with a pack of smaller dog co-pilots. She is on an easy to feed raw/cooked meat diet, just because unlike some of the dogs, she will eat everything put before her. Clem is still a bit shy with strangers and would be insecure if left alone for long periods of time, so a stay at home or work-from-home family would be her preference. I AM sure she will get more confidence with a family that would show her lots of new experiences and has a confident attitude themselves. And She already has her own theme song...Oh my darlin' Oh my Darlin' Oh my Darlin' Clementine~ for more information or to meet Clem, please email us or Please feel free to call 740-596-8235 (stephanie) we are located in the McArthur area 45651, if you would like to mapquest us.     Hi there. My name is Herman. I am 1-2 years old and I weigh about 70 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Lisbon area and I was picked up by the pound. I am a super sweet, happy and loving boy. I love other dogs and I love people. I love to play! Boy, am I a fun dog! I love playing fetch. I don't always bring it back, but I do most of the time. I am a big droopy, adorable houndy boy. I am very funny to watch when I run. I am a typical hound. I am smart but I still need some training. I WILL sing you the song of my people when I am excited or when I see people or just 'cause I feel like it. I do have a great singing voice though, if you're ... (Read More)into the houndy bay. Black and Tan Coonhound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Brother and sister hounds, about 40 lbs each. We adopted them 6 years ago when they were pups, but now they need a new home due to bad chemistry with our senior dog and other rescues. They love being together but don't mind being apart or with other dogs. They are SO easy to walk--no pulling! They will run on leash beside a bicycle. Jenny is shy and cuddly, and Frank is gregarious. We love them, and they deserve a better life than being protected behind baby gates and doors.
