Barney is a Black and Tan Coonhound that was an immediate crowd favorite. He is likely around 12-18 months old and has a great disposition. He loves to play and socialize with other dogs and has shown no aggression toward any dog or person. He has interacted with both large and small dogs and has done phenomenally well with both. He was very gentle with the smaller dogs. He loves to be loved and babied by his two-legged friends. He loves attention and likes to nuzzle his nose in your lap to soak up your pets and scratches. He has a super soft coat and sheds minimally. We have yet to see him interact with cats or children, but believe he ... (Read More)would do well with kids. If he is anything like other Coonhounds, cats may fall under the 'prey' rather than 'friend' category, but he could surprise us. Although it doesn't appear he had much interaction with toys, he has grown to love chasing and playing fetch with the ball. He was initially mildly protective of the ball, giving a bark if another dog had it and he wanted, but he never snapped or bit. After a short while, he learned how to share with others. Barnabas has a good appetite and has not shown any food aggression, even when eating at his foster home around other hounds. Barney has good energy and would fit in well with an energetic young household that has a yard with a fence or a family that would provide him with regular walks, trips to the dog park, and/or day care. He is house-broken and lets you know when he needs to go outside. He sleeps well through the night in a dog bed in the master bedroom at home. In the past, he did great in a kennel with a bed and a blanket. He has not had formal training, but knows how to sit and would likely be a fairly quick learner. Barney is truly a great dog and will make a great companion for someone, or a lucky family! (Less)
