Black and Tan Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Health: Vaccinations Current

Pretty boy Rocky is a 2 to 4 year old hound mix, who has been treated for heartworms and is now HW negative. He is not yet neutered but he is fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. Rocky is good with other dogs and seems okay around cats. He is very shy and needs a very patient, loving foster and/or forever home with a fenced in yard. Like Aaron (above) Rocky is one of the Southern Illinois dogs from the Howlin For Hope project back in December who we rescued from the 'sanctuary' that was closed down. Rocky has lived in a kennel in horrific conditions, without proper care or socialization until we rescued him. Rocky needs a lot of ... (Read More)patience, love and understanding. Once he gets to know you he will come around nicely but he needs time. Rocky weighs about 40 pounds, he crates well but he is leery of new situations and is a flight risk but he is adapting to our shelter in leaps and bounds and we feel he is ready to move forward. He has spent too much of his life in a shelter. Rocky does not have a mean bone in his body! He's a very sweet boy! Now with Rocky's cleared heartworm test he is ready to go on with his life! Will you be that special someone to help Rocky have a normal life? Here is a video of adorable Rocky and sweet Troy meeting for the first time: (Less)
